How to Use the Hostel QR Suite

Hostel QR codes earn their keep when they remove reception bottlenecks: guests check in from their phones, join WiFi without asking, explore the city from one scan, and find events without a noticeboard hunt. Build one code per job, then place each where its moment happens.

Place each code where its moment happens

The check-in code belongs in the confirmation email and at the desk, the city guide in the lounge and dorms, WiFi at reception and in common areas, and events on the noticeboard. A code in the wrong place gets ignored, however good it is.

Rotate the WiFi password, then reprint

A WiFi code is only as safe as the password it carries. When the password changes, reprint the WiFi cards the same day, and never leave an old card on display. Treat printed WiFi cards like keys.

Test before you print

Print a sample at the real size, scan it on two different phones in real hostel lighting, and confirm the whole journey works, from scan to check-in. Keep the quiet zone clear and use dark modules on a light background.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the WiFi code contain?

A standard WIFI: payload with the network name and password, so a phone camera offers to join the network directly. Nothing about the code reveals the password to anyone who cannot already see the printed card.

What does the check-in code contain?

The check-in URL plus the booking reference as a link parameter, so the check-in form can pre-fill the booking when the page supports it. The guest still confirms check-in on the page itself.

Can I change the destination without reprinting the codes?

Yes, if the code points to a URL you control. Update the page behind it and every printed code shows the new content. If the code points to a page you do not control, a change there can break your printed cards.

Will these QR codes work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, in nearly all cases. Modern iPhone and Android cameras read QR codes natively. Test on both platforms before a large print run, keep the quiet zone clear, and use dark modules on a light background with strong contrast.
